When I put a lot of effort into striving for justice and truth, I believe I am honoring Him who incarnates Truth and Justice; I am honoring our Lord. It is for him that I struggle, him I love and serve when I struggle for the poor, when I love them and serve them” +Leónidas Proaño, Bishop of the Indians

Bishop Proaño’s statement synthesizes all our yearnings for Peace and Justice, the wishes of all women and men of good will who search and long for a world that will shelter us. This longing, springs from the heart of all of us Passionist women and men and it becomes real in our daily struggles and searching, in our many projects in support of Peace, Justice and the Integrity of Creation. The way that has been opened up by PI is in harmony with this struggle: the struggle against the evils that afflict humanity and our Mother earth and which helps to make the Kingdom of God happen. Our deep wish for 2010 is that our voice, coming from South and North, East and West, might be heard. Because it is the voice of the poor and of the earth, it is the voice of the ones who cry and suffer.

As the Passionist Family, we want to make the best use of the representation that we now have to make our voice heard through the “Consultative Status” that we have gained with the U.N. We know that we are not alone in this; we want to continue expressing our work with others who, like ourselves, believe that “Another world is possible”. It is Jesus whom we love and serve who challenges us to put a lot of effort into the search for Justice and Truth. A very big thanks to Sister Mary Ann Strain and Father Kevin Dance, our representatives, for the path opened and the results that we can easily see.
